Dealer Comments
The 2027 Hyundai Kona SEL Sport immediately rewards drivers with a sense of composure and connection, emphasizing smooth steering response and a chassis tuned for confident, predictable handling.
Enthusiasts who appreciate both daily comfort and dynamic road manners will find the Kona SEL Sport a compelling match. The driver-focused cockpit, complete with supportive heated front bucket seats and a telescoping steering wheel, encourages extended test drives and rewards those who notice subtle differences in chassis behavior. In areas like Lakeland, FL, where smooth highways blend with occasional rain and urban traffic, the SUV's blend of stability and agile response makes routine and spirited driving alike feel enjoyable and reassuring.
Performance is where this SUV stands out among competitors in its segment. The 2.0L I4 DOHC 16V engine paired with a continuously variable transmission delivers seamless, linear throttle response—perfect for merging onto highways or threading through city traffic. The transmission's tuning ensures that acceleration is smooth, with shifts that are barely perceptible but always responsive to your right foot. The speed-sensing steering offers just enough weight to inspire confidence on fast sweepers, while the independent suspension settles the body quickly over undulating pavement, ensuring a ride that feels planted and controlled. Braking is progressive and easy to modulate, reinforcing your confidence when approaching an intersection or descending a ramp.
Safety technologies in the Kona SEL Sport are engineered to work with, rather than against, an engaged driver. Electronic Stability Control subtly assists in maintaining composure during quick maneuvers or wet conditions, intervening only when absolutely necessary to help keep the vehicle pointed true. Traction control and ABS brakes are tuned for smooth intervention, never overwhelming the driver’s input, while features like Auto High-beam Headlights and a rearview parking camera enhance visibility and awareness without intruding on the driving experience. These systems provide reassurance without dulling the sense of control, blending seamlessly with the SUV’s dynamic character.
The Kona SEL Sport comes equipped with features that elevate the driving experience and comfort. Dual-zone automatic temperature control allows both driver and passenger to fine-tune their environment, while Apple CarPlay and Android Auto keep you connected and entertained without distraction.
Compared to rivals like the Honda HR-V and Toyota Corolla Cross, the Kona SEL Sport emphasizes a more direct steering feel and a chassis that encourages an active role from the driver.
Is the Kona SEL Sport comfortable on long trips? Yes—the independent suspension and well-cushioned seats support fatigue-free highway cruising, while dual-zone climate control ensures tailored comfort for all. How well does it handle in corners and merges? The SUV’s speed-sensing steering and stable chassis provide confidence when changing lanes or navigating ramps, delivering a planted feel without excessive body roll.
