You may notice that it takes more of a press than a touch to engage with the touchscreen, which will be different than what you experience with a smartphone. That's because the screen technology is different. The touchscreen in your vehicle uses resistive-touch technology for durability reasons. Many smartphones use capacitive-touch technology, which requires a lighter touch or swipe of the finger, but this technology does not yet meet the durability requirements of Ford for vehicle application.

Each corner lets you zoom in on a particular category and use touch-sensitive controls the way you would traditional knobs and buttons. You can do things like:
-- look up a contact to call with your Bluetooth®-connected phone1
-- browse media player albums or change HD Radio™ stations8
-- type an address to get directions, if you have installed the optional SD-card Navigation System6
-- set a comfortable cabin temperature

You can control most of the system using either voice commands or the five-way control buttons on the steering wheel.1
No need to worry if your hazard flashers start flashing
The button for your vehicle's hazard flashers is located immediately below the touchscreen?so if you accidently press this button when using the touchscreen, you'll turn on the flashers. Just press the button again to turn them off.

For example, it can display maps when navigating (if equipped with the optional Navigation System), the area behind your vehicle with the rearview camera feature (if equipped), or even videos from your iPod® (when the vehicle is in park).9

Even if you can't tell a dipstick from a toothpick, you can get accurate, instantaneous data about the systems that keep your vehicle running smoothly and safely. Instead of fumbling with greasy gizmos under the hood, use the five-way controller on the left side of the steering wheel to view vehicle information in the left display in the instrument cluster.
Note: Some items display during a system check only if a problem is detected.
To run a system check or view other vehicle information, press
in the left steering wheel controls to highlight Information. Then press
to select an option.1
